Llanmadoc Camp ‘11

Fast approaching is this years Llanmadoc Camp, a annual camp which has been faithfully run and hosted by Ebenezer Baptist Church in Swansea, but with the recent opportunity for the last years, being joined by numerous churches in and around the Swansea area.

These churches include, Bethel Evangelical Church, Gorseinon, Llanelli Free Church in Llanelli and Neath Abbey.

As you can see from the above photo, the weather has been fantastic over the last few years and I ask you to pray once again for nice weather so some enjoyable games and team building activities can be carried out over the weekend.

We welcome Emyr James to this years camp as the appointed main speaker.
Emyr is currently leading the welsh junior camp for EMW and comes from a Welsh Church in Cardiff.

This years Llanmadoc camp is being held on the 24th to the 26th of June.

Farewell to John & Joan Isaac to Pastures new..

Our fellowship was recently very much saddened by the departure to Cambridge of a greatly beloved couple, namely John and Joan Isaac, two pillars of the church who loved their Saviour Jesus Christ and had given themselves wholeheartedly to His cause in both church and locality over many years of service.

John had been a deacon at Bethel for 46years and during which time he held office of Church Secretary for several years, whilst Joan had provided leadership of an overall kind in the churches various activities.

It was profoundly regrettable that their need to relocate was necessitated for family reasons and their loss will remain stamped upon us to a emotionally marked degree.

In paying tribute to both the human and spiritual worth of John and Joan we can, perhaps, best describe them as being woven into the warp and woof of The Garment of Christs Body as constituted by His Redeemed people at Bethel. The joyous thing for us was beholding the order and steadfastness of their faith in Christ, that which characterises the church of God.

At times, often having to endure extremely distressing periods of physical and emotional difficulties, they continued to show a remarkable cheerfulness and undeviating dedication in all aspects of the Lord’s work in our mist, true examples of devotion and enduring love towards our Redeeming Saviour. Truly, truly, John and Joan did our souls immense good and demonstrated to us the sheer beauty and pleasantness of christian living in its unsurpassable wholesomeness.

Their leaving was marked by a fellowship gathering, together with representatives from other churches, in appropriate celebration of their faithfulness in leadership, influence and contribution to church life.

Not withstanding they left us with our tears and also our continuing heart’s desire and prayer to God for sustained health and experience of contentment and fullness of joy that proceeds from direct and intimate Communion with Him before which all other Joys pale.

We at Bethel wish John and Joan, God’s Richest Blessings as they settle in their new home and church in Cambridge, you will be in our thoughts and prayers always.

Youth Rallies for Swansea A.E.C.W Cluster

Bethel Evangelical Church are pleased to be included in the decision of the churches within the Swansea cluster of the A.E.C.W group to re-form the formally popular Youth Rallies.

Paul and Rachel Watkins from Ebenezer are the reason behind this idea to be re-visited and with some quick telephone calls with other youth leaders about the idea, it was clear that all felt a need for the rallies to return.

I’ve been told that youth rallies were quite popular in the Swansea area and as a result many of the joint youth groups located around swansea were strengthened, numbers increased and all visitors and leaders agreed an enjoyable event was being held for many youth groups. This provided a much needed relaxation and recreational evening for youngsters that wanted to stay away from the usual crowds and the activities that result in evening periods.

Now this idea has been given another chance, it’s an ideal time for a different structure and approach of the meetings to be implemented. The youth could finally meet others from other youth groups who have similar stories, concerns or questions regarding todays life and choices to be made in the busy pace of being a youth in a church environment.

As one who asked, ‘What is a rally?’ I can now see that a rally is an opportunity to meet other young people within other groups and host an event that was a mix between a youth night and a sunday service. We are looking forward to a less formal and more open format that rallies can bring to the mix.

Each meeting, hosted by 1 of the 6 churches involved will be a random choice of applicable hymns, testimonies, games, readings and refeshments with some youth participation and enjoyment as one of the top priorities.

Please pray for these meetings. We hope that the future holds some enjoyable rallies and special friendships be made.

As churches we are looking forward to all future meetings, speakers and different locations for our youth to visit and engage with.

Service Recordings Available on CD

Due to the ever-increasing movement and advance of media technology, and with the current opportunity of podcasting all of our services on this website, the service recordings are now being captured on tape and CD, to be requested, free of charge (until further notice) by anyone interested.

The decision to gradually move to mp3 recordings (and CD creation) has really been forced upon us as 90 Min Cassette tapes become expensive to buy (due to the fall in demand), harder to obtain (as retailers refuse to hold stock), equipment price in creating actual recordings and the quality of audio verses CD.

CDs are cheaper, easy to store due to smaller and thinner size, easy to obtain after years of tried and tested use in the market, and allow the opportunity of multiple copies to be created quickly and easily for multiple listeners.

This also allows us to offer up any recording, whether it be the full service which contains all the prayers, announcements and hymns as well as the service or a educational CD which only contains the reading and sermon, as presented by the preaching pastor.

The website has also allowed us to make a backup copy of all the mp3 recordings we have captured and and now just starting to hold a complete years worth (over 2.5GB in size)

Unlike other websites, I have made sure that all the recordings are of decent listening quality (over 128kb quality) to ensure clarity of the preacher and enjoyment to the listener.

If you would like to request any CDs of the services as they happen, then please do not hesistate to contact us through the website or directly (if you visit Bethel regularly and ask about the recordings).
