No.7: Life Is a Puzzle
Life is a puzzle. Have you Found the Missing Peace?
There are four basic stages to doing a jigsaw. Sorting all the straight edged pieces for making the border; starting on the central or most obvious subjects; struggling with the boring bits – blue skies and green grass; and searching under the table and in all the obvious places for the missing pieces.
Living life is a bit like that. We have to work out the boundaries between acceptable and unacceptable behaviour; we must concentrate on the important things; we must plod through the grey days, and we must puzzle over the bits that don’t make sense.
Some think the Bible is an impossible puzzle without pattern or sense. But those who have taken time to look have found it gives us clear boundaries – love God and love your neighbour. It concentrates on the essentials: what’s wrong with us and who can put us right. It gives comfort through the dreary days and darkest nights and gives the certainty that “all things wortk together for good to those who love God”.
Before Jesus went voluntarily to the Cross and experienced tension, trauma and tormet in the place of those who deserved it, he said “peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you …. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afriad”. His sufferings obtained peace with God, with our past and for our future, for all who trust in Him.
Bibles that are coming apart at the seams are usually read by people who are not. Put yourself in the picture and find the missing peace you long for.
