So who are we?

We are a local youth group based at Bethel Evangelical Church in Gorseinon and we get together most Thursdays during term time from 7:30pm until 8:30pm.  John & Sam lead the group on alternating weeks, with Rhodri, Heather & Yvonne providing valuable support with the activities, games and refreshments (yes, free food & drinks!).  There is no entry fee, and we welcome any young people from the community who have started year 6 at school, and entry is open to anyone still in comprehensive.  It’s a great opportunity to mix with other young people and we promise you will have lots of fun and, most importantly, learn more about Jesus – who He is and why He died for us.

So what do you do in this youth club?

We run various activities that change each week. We always start with an opening game to get warmed up – something like hangman, catchphrase or speed-pictionary, to name a few!  We’ll then have a short talk from one of the leaders, we like to do a different series each term and we love making them interactive with videos and powerpoints.  We then have a quick break for some free refreshments to keep you going, before getting stuck into more games – anything from table tennis to retro board games, or gaming consoles to team games (dodgeball anyone!?).  We even have special craft weeks where you’ll make something unique to take home!  You can guarantee that each week will be different and have something to keep you entertained!

What don’t we do!?

Being a church youth group, we only have a few but important rules.  We discourage swearing of any form as we wouldn’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable.  And of course there is no smoking or drinking alcohol allowed at the group.  Other than that, all we ask is that you listen to the leaders!  There is no ‘free time’ as such, since we follow a structure every week that keeps you busy!  So no time for for messing around or being silly.  We’ll also ask you to pop your phone on silent or in the box provided while we have the talk, just so that there’s no distractions!

What else do I need to know!?

The group generally runs during school term times.  We usually do our planning on the first Thursday of each full term (three times a year), so the first youth meeting of each full term will be on the second Thursday after school starts back.  If in doubt, just check our event calendar on this website.  If you become a regular to our youth group, you’ll get to enjoy other benefits, such as end of term parties that we like to hold at special times of year, like Christmas and before the Summer break – these will be full of interesting games and prizes, not to mention the free buffet!

How can I find out more!?

If there is something on your mind that isn’t answered here, then please do get in touch – just fill out the form on the Contact Us page.  Parents could also reach out to us via our Church or Youth Group facebook pages.  We look forward to hearing from you!
